Fashion Police that Need Policing
It’s been a rough road for Devil’s Lake High School students in North Dakota.
Recently, the school banned one of the quintessential pieces of clothing worn by young girls today: yoga pants.
Oh the humanity!
The idea came when faculty noticed students…and teachers…were getting distracted by the yoga wear.
Honestly, that’s what they said…teachers were getting distracted.
Literally, they just admitted in the video that young male teachers were checking out students.
Uh…
Ok.
So….my thoughts on this issue: maybe look at the teachers who are checking out underage kids. Because that is a slightly more serious discussion than Lululemon pants.
I’m not trying to be a smart-ass here (ok, actually I am a little), but how can you hire people like that?
I have been in the yoga community for years. I routinely see beautiful women in skimpy clothes.
But guess what? I’m a professional. I don’t check them out; and if I do subconsciously, I try my best to step out of that space, because I want that student to have the safest environment possible and to feel supported.
ESPECIALLY IF THEY’RE UNDERAGE.
I mean…what the hell people. That is slightly disconcerting when being talked about in the context of a high school.
More Important Issues
So now all the girls have to wear something else, such as sweatpants. Gee, that’s not annoying.
Most ladies have a sizable chunk of their wardrobe filled with yoga pants because they’re so comfortable. In fact, jean companies are noticing that trend because it’s hurting their business.
But apparently this isn’t the only issue going on in this school. Bullying is also becoming a problem, especially online:
“They should be focusing more on that and not dumb stuff like yoga pants. We should be able to wear whatever we want.” (quote from the video)
I don’t necessarily think kids should be able to wear whatever they want, but yoga pants…eh…not exactly a huge issue. Sure ladies like them cause it’s comfortable and makes them look good.
But it’s not like they’re walking around in their thongs or something.
Jesus. Can’t people control themselves? Should women start wearing onesies to protect society from becoming sexually obsessed?
And the teachers? UGH. Come on people. Are you hiring sexual deviants or something?
WHY DON’T WE LEARN SOME SELF CONTROL?
Rant over.
Namaste.
